Colon is the last destination of the food which travels from the mouth through the digestive system.
Popular adage says death begins with the bowels, i.e. if the bowel movements are not proper, and then there is ill health.
Various methods of colon cleansing are seen. Popular options being diet, cathartic regimens, gut lavage, and phosphate preparations. Each on of these has their own characteristics and safety profile.
Diet is the best way as it is the most natural.
Bowel movements twice a day or once in two days are both normal. Age and physical activity also play a role in food digestion, so they also effect the colon cleansing.
Natural colon cleansing requires high fibber and water content, a fibre intake of 25-30gms dissolved in food and fluid help in toxin flushing, this in turn helps in repair, and rejuvenation of the body.
Water content is another requirement. Each human being needs to consume half their body weight in ounces as minimum water intake. That is a 100 lbs person needs to take in at least 50 ounces of water/day.
Normal diet of brown rice, raw vegetables, wheat germs, nuts, seeds beans and lentils all help to maintain the nutritional requirement of the body, along with keeping your bowels clean. Quinoa, wild or basmati rice, amaranth seeds are all helpful in colon cleansing.
Flax seeds and oats are great too
Fruits like apples, blackberry and prunes are recommended as colon cleansers.
Spinach, broccoli and green salads from the vegetable department do the honours.
Yogurt is another great colon detoxifier. If you have any problem in picking them, do check the labels for “with good bacteria” or an honest acknowledgement of Lactobacillus acidophilus.
Herbs like aloe, cayenne pepper, ginger are great GI and liver cleansers, when fennel and garlic are thrown in they become great colon cleansers too and particularly release trapped in gas.
If you are just starting out then the ideal thing would be to go on a fruit diet for a few days, and then shift to a regulated balance diet.
Colon cleansing is not only about what to eat, it is also about whatnot to eat, like, no junk food, pasta, coffee, black tea, alcohol,
